Woman arrested in Davis Island hit-and-run crash

Residents of Florida are no strangers to the accidents caused due to driving under influence of alcohol. In a recent incident, a 34-year-old Tampa woman has been arrested in connection with a hit and run crash by the Tampa police when her vehicle hit a pedestrian that left a man with serious physical injuries.

According to police, the woman was driving northbound on East Davis Boulevard when she struck a man who was passing the street. She drove around the victim and left the scene of crash. A witness chased the vehicle until it stopped at 17th Street and Nebraska Avenue. The witness was able to share with the officers the woman's tag number. The man was rushed to nearby General Hospital for treatment.

According to police reports, the woman was intoxicated while driving. Tests show her blood alcohol levels were found to be more than 0.15. This was above the permissible limit under Florida law, that is, 0.08 BAC

The woman has been put under arrest and charged with driving under the influence, DIU with serious bodily injury and fleeing from the scene of a crash with serious bodily injury. The court set a bail of $10,000 for her release.
