Fatal car crash claims life of elderly Florida man

Given that Florida is a state in which many people have to use the numerous state roadways to get around, the number of vehicles on the road and the frequency with which people drive or ride as passengers will lend itself to the possibility of a crash. Unfortunately, some of these accidents will be so serious that they result in a fatality. When there is a fatal car crash, those who were affected by it need to know what the future holds and that they have the right to seek compensation in a wrongful death lawsuit.

Recently, an early afternoon accident in Hillsborough between four cars resulted in the death of a 74-year-old man. The crash occurred shortly before 1 p.m. as a Ford F150 was sideswiped by a 2010 Ford van. The van then hit a 2014 Honda Accord that was being driven by the man who died. His car was sent into oncoming traffic where it was hit head-on by a 2014 Ford Focus that was being driven by a 70-year-old woman. The driver of the van did not show signals of driving while impaired. The case is still being investigated.

When there is a knock on the door from law enforcement to inform a family that a loved one has been killed in a fatal accident, there will be numerous issues that will come immediately to mind. First, it will be the emotional reaction of an unexpected death. Then, once reality sets in, there will be practical matters that have to be considered. For example, the person who died might have been a major financial contributor to the household. The deceased person could have been a beloved grandparent, a stay-at-home parent, or someone who was an integral part of the family. There are multiple factors that have to be considered with the loss of a loved one such as funeral costs, lost companionship and more. This is when it is important to consider legal options.

In this accident, an elderly man died in a crash when his car was hit from behind and sent into the opposite lanes of the roadway. Given the circumstances of this crash and that the investigation is continuing, his family should understand their legal options. People who are in this difficult kind of situation may want to contact an attorney experienced in helping those who have lost someone in a fatal car crash.
