Several Injuries Reported in Manatee County Bus Crash

BusOnRoad

In October of 2025, the Bradenton Herald reported that an SUV had collided with three school buses in Manatee County. This Tampa Bay Area bus accident injured several people, including children. School bus accidents in Florida have unfortunately become quite common, and this issue is also widespread across the entire nation. What can you do if your child was injured in a school bus accident? Can a personal injury lawyer help?

SUV Causes “Chain-Reaction” Crash Involving Three School Buses

Officials say that three school buses had stopped in a single-file line when an SUV approached from behind. The SUV then struck the rearmost bus, causing a “chain-reaction” set of impacts that affected all three vehicles. After the first impact, the SUV burst into flames. 90 students were on board the three buses along with six adults, and all were associated with a local high school in Manatee County.

That said, the child who suffered the worst injuries was inside the SUV, not a school bus. This two-year-old reportedly suffered “critical” injuries, possibly related to the fire or the initial impact. A woman inside the SUV also suffered unspecified injuries and was hospitalized by first responders. Six other students on board the buses were hospitalized as well, although all reportedly recovered with minor ailments.

The crash itself remains under investigation. However, the obvious conclusion is that the SUV driver caused the collision. The school buses were stationary, and the SUV must have been approaching at a high speed in order to cause such a major crash. The impact was so intense that it jolted all three of the heavy, large school buses to impact each other. The fact that the SUV burst into flames after the crash also indicates a high rate of speed.

What if My Child Was Injured in a School Bus Crash?

If your child suffered injuries in a school bus crash, you have the right to pursue compensation. You can do this by filing a claim against the negligent party who caused the crash. In many situations, this negligent individual is another driver who crashes into the school bus. However, this is not always the case. School bus drivers may also cause crashes through their own negligence, and this may lead to claims against school districts.

In some situations, you may be able to name multiple defendants in your auto accident claim. Speak with an experienced lawyer to determine the most appropriate course of action.
