Numerous Women Killed in Tampa Traffic Accidents

Recent auto accidents in Tampa have claimed the lives of several women. At least one of these incidents can hardly be described as an accident, as it was caused by a drunk driver who had been arrested for DUI just one day prior. If someone you love was killed in a car accident, you have the right to consider your legal options. You can do this alongside an experienced Tampa auto accident lawyer.
Numerous Women Struck on Dale Mabry Highway
On March 16th, numerous sources reported that a woman was struck and killed while trying to cross Dale Mabry Highway. As the woman was crossing at about 8:30 PM, she was hit by a Lexus. After the initial impact, she was struck by five other vehicles, ultimately leading to fatal injuries. All drivers involved stopped and cooperated with law enforcement.
On the same day, another woman was struck on Dale Mabry Highway when she stopped and tried to help a dog on the side of the road. After she reached the dog, she was struck by a RAV4 – causing fatal injuries for both her and the animal.
Mother Dies After DUI Crash in Tampa
Another fatal crash occurred two days prior, and it ended with the death of a mother. Police say the crash was caused by a drunk motorist who was driving on a suspended license, having just been released for a prior drunk driving offense about 24 hours before the crash. This drunk motorist allegedly veered into oncoming traffic before striking the victim’s vehicle.
The 36-year-old mother was driving with her three children, and all three of these minors also suffered serious injuries. The authorities later determined that the driver was under the influence of cocaine and meth. After conducting a search of his vehicle, police also located quantities of psilocybin mushrooms, cocaine, MDMA, oxycodone, Xanax, and carisoprodol.
The defendant is now being charged with DUI manslaughter, vehicular homicide, DUI causing serious bodily injury, possession of controlled substances, and other offenses. He could face decades in prison if convicted. However, no amount of incarceration will ever bring back the mother of these three children. The youngest of these victims is four.
Not only will they have to live the rest of their lives without the love, support, and guidance of their mother – but they may also struggle with permanent disabilities and disfigurements caused by this head-on collision.
