Authorities Report Multiple Truck Accidents in Florida

Trucks

Within the past few days and weeks, authorities have reported multiple trucking accidents in Tampa. These accidents have involved cranes, semi-trucks, tow trucks, and other vehicles. Some have proven fatal, while others have led to hospitalizations. Whatever the case may be, truck accidents are always serious affairs – and victims should consider legal action in the aftermath.

Two Semi-Trucks Collide in Tampa Bay Area

In March of 2025, two semi-trucks collided on I-75, causing authorities to shut down the southbound lanes for many hours. Police say that a crane semi-truck was approaching an overpass near North Port when it collided with a tractor-trailer hauling a flatbed trailer. The tractor-trailer reportedly had its hazard lights activated, implying it was traveling at a low rate of speed.

After the initial collision, the crane semi-truck flipped onto its side and blocked all southbound lanes. A passenger vehicle following the trucks then collided into the crane semi-truck, assumedly with no time to react. Two people were hospitalized at the time of the crash, although first responders noted that none of their injuries were life-threatening.

Highway Patrol could not provide a clear reason for the initial collision. They noted that there was clear visibility, and that the crane semi-truck should have seen the slow-moving tractor-trailer with its hazard lights engaged.

Speeding Driver Dies After Crashing into Semi-Truck

At around the same time, a speeding driver crashed their SUV into a semi-truck in the Tampa Bay area and suffered fatal injuries. Police say that the driver was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. Although this driver was speeding, police also noted that the semi-truck driver may have veered into their lane moments before the crash. The crash was so intense that it lifted the heavy trailer off the ground.

Man Dies After Colliding With Tow Truck on I-75

Another major I-75 crash occurred in March when a man crashed into the back of a tow truck. The tow truck was parked on the shoulder, and the deceased driver veered into the shoulder before the fatal impact. Police aren’t sure why he veered into the shoulder.

While it is easy to blame the driver in this scenario, one should also consider the dangers of parking on the shoulder. Images from the crash scene seem to indicate that the tow truck driver was not actively engaged in towing at the time of the collision. There was no disabled vehicle on the shoulder, and it is not clear whether the tow truck had its hazard lights engaged.
