Woman Accused of Intentionally Reversing Into Victim in Tampa Bay Area

While most crashes are accidental, some involve enraged drivers who use their vehicles as weapons. These incidents can lead to severe injuries and psychological trauma, and a recent example occurred in the Tampa Bay Area. This incident involved a woman who allegedly tried to run over a victim with a stolen truck. What can you do if you were the victim of a road rage assailant? Could a Tampa auto accident lawyer help in this situation?
Florida Woman Faces Murder Charges After Tampa Bay Area Crash
In late June of 2025, WTSP 10 reported that a woman was facing murder charges after a crash-related incident in the Tampa Bay Area. It all began with an accident on I-75 between a pickup truck and a Dodge Challenger. When the authorities arrived, they found the Challenger with heavy damage and the pickup truck on a nearby embankment.
Authorities quickly determined that this was not a mere “accident,” but rather an intentional act. Witnesses explained that the two drivers had parked on the shoulder before the driver of the Challenger approached the pickup. The driver of the pickup then tried to pull forward before reversing “aggressively” toward the victim. The victim dodged the ramming attack, but the pickup slammed into his Challenger.
Not satisfied, the driver of the pickup truck proceeded to circle around and come in for another ramming attack, this time chasing the victim toward the tree line. A witness followed the pair into the trees and found the Challenger driver partially trapped underneath the pickup truck. At this time, the pickup truck was calling for a ride.
As bystanders rushed to offer first aid, another witness detained the pickup truck driver until law enforcement could arrive. The driver of the Challenger suffered serious injuries, to the point where he was unable to speak with law enforcement at the scene. He was subsequently hospitalized, and his condition is not clear.
Authorities determined that the pickup truck involved in this incident was stolen. The driver now faces a slew of charges, including attempted murder and aggravated battery with great bodily harm. If she is convicted, she could spend decades in prison.
Can I Sue After a Road Rage Incident in Tampa?
It may be possible to file an auto accident lawsuit after a road rage incident in Tampa. That being said, intentional acts like ramming attacks are often excluded from auto insurance policies. These exclusions are largely an effort to prevent fraud and staged car accidents. That being said, not all road rage incidents are intentional, and some may be “accidental” while still involving gross, reckless negligence. Speak with a lawyer for more information.
