Biltmore Smoked Sockeye Salmon recalled over listeria concerns

Many companies supply fish and meat products in Florida and promote their products to be safe and healthy. As these products are meant for human consumption and can affect the person directly, the manufacturing companies should ensure that their products satisfy the requirements of the applicable rules and regulations and don't present any health risk for consumers because of contamination. Sometimes foods may get contaminated with listeria, which is a source of food poisoning and may even lead to death of the person.

There have been reports of Biltmore Smoked Sockeye Salmon recall after testing finds listeria in it. Listeria monocytogenes, an organism that cause food-borne illness, was discovered in the product through routine regulatory testing conducted by the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services. People who have purchased this product are being warned not to consume it and return it to the store where it was originally purchased for a refund of their money.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, an estimated 1,600 Americans get infected by listeria each year and about 260 people die of it. People with impaired immune systems, pregnant women, children under the age of 5 and the elderly are most vulnerable to this infection.

Many products in the market can prove to be dangerous for the individual using it. One reason behind this is the unfortunate fact that many manufacturers do not conduct sufficient user-safety testing before releasing their product into the market. In fact, there are many such dangerous products that are there in the market but without adequate warnings. As a result of this negligence, it is the consumer who is the ultimate sufferer.

Sometimes, this negligence can cause an injury or an illness, and in some worse cases, it may also cause death. Therefore, if someone is affected by the dangerous product, the first step that the victim or that victim's family members need to take is to seek legal recourse.
