Car running stop sign leads to fatal accident with motorcycle

Florida motorcyclists and drivers of conventional vehicles have to share the road and adhere to traffic laws to ensure that everyone will remain safe. Motorcycle riders are facing enough of a risk based on the sheer vulnerability that is an inherent part of the activity. Therefore, when other drivers do not watch out for them or fail to follow the rules of the road; it can lead to an accident and even a wrongful death incident. Those who are dealing with the loss of a loved one after a fatal accident should know their rights to pursue compensation for what happened.

According to recent reports, a motorcyclist was killed when his bike collided with another vehicle. The motorcyclist, a 40-year-old male, was riding his 1995 Harley-Davidson east on the roadway when a 2000 Dodge Dakota emerging from a stop sign pulled into his path. Upon further investigation, law enforcement determined that the 71-year-old driver of the Dodge went through the stop sign and did not yield the right of way to the motorcycle.

With a fatal accident of any kind, there will be a significant amount of emotional and personal turmoil for the family left behind. Not only do they have to come to grips with the unexpected loss of a family member, but they will also lose the contributions that the person provided. That might include lost wages, loss of household services, medical expenses that were incurred before the person died, funeral expenses, loss of companionship and more. In the trying time after the accident has occurred, the family members might not have it in mind that they have the right to pursue compensation through a legal filing, but it is an important fact to remember.

In this case, the motorcyclist was killed when an elderly driver turned his vehicle in front of the motorcycle. Considering the circumstances of this accident and that the driver was cited for failing to adhere to a stop sign and yield the right of way, family members might want to consider the recourses available to them. While this will not bring back their loved one, a wrongful death suit could help offset the financial burdens caused by a fatal accident.
