Florida emphasizes the dangers of being a distracted driver

In an attempt to tamp down on the number of drivers operating their vehicles while distracted, the State of Florida has dubbed April "distracted driving awareness month." Throughout Florida, the Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles is teaming up with various law enforcement agencies and groups dedicated to advocating safe driving practices to remind motorists of the dangers of being a distracted driver. Types of distractions can include texting and driving, eating, speaking to passengers, using a smartphone for web surfing, changing the radio and much more.

Drunk drivers still a frequent cause of car accidents

Although Floridians and people across the United States are fully aware of the dangers of encountering a drunk driver, these accidents still happen and there are people affected by them every day, with serious injuries and untimely deaths. The facts show that in spite of greater vigilance on the part of law enforcement to tamp down on drunk drivers and to stop drunk driving accidents before they can come to pass, they still occur all too frequently.
